Ocean

the ocean went over and over this with the shore...

until her lines were written upon the skin of the soil

like fingerprints

the ocean receding into its own depths

leaving crests carved in mountainsides

like letters to the stars

slowly the sky opened

like parting wings... the clouds shifted

until every colour of the dawn

was speaking...

and she knew their names... she knew their stories

like they told them to her

many many times

the air was her skin

the sky her eyes

where rivers had dried up... her scars

her love was the moon

and the rain and the sun

dancing as one

with her tide

and falling like the heart of a bird

into a valley

filled with water

where the wind has ripples

and the mind has deserts

where she parades

through their endless uncertainty...

unafraid
